Ted James Design was founded in 2010 by Ted ‘Superted’ James. Known for his fixed gear trick riding, Ted started building frames six years ago and has since made a name for himself as a top builder, winning the Peer Award at Bespoked 2013 and being chosen by Reynolds to build the first 921 stainless frame for testing.

Ted builds all kinds of bikes, from custom one-offs and prototypes to small batches, mostly in steel, stainless steel and titanium. He also makes as many parts and fittings for his bikes as he can – his portfolio includes head tubes, bottom brackets, hubs, handle bars, racks and stems. Ted’s frames are generally designed with unique ideas. Many of the frames are engineered as much as they are handmade. If he can machine a part for your frame on one of his manual machines, he will.

As much as Ted loves to design and build bikes, he loves to ride them. He rides a selection of different bikes and as a result he has a great understanding of how they work, and how they can be better built.

Ted James Design bikes, which have been described as “future collectables”, are all hand made by Ted in his workshop in the Cotswolds, England.
